ENG: This hymn is dedicated to Yemanjà, the Queen of Sea Waters, or Goddess of the Sea.

Before receiving this piece, I didn't know much about her. That night, I wrote it straight away - the words came out with an automatism that surprised me. I had no intention of writing a hymn to Yemanjà. I realized that the hymn was dedicated to her only when the hands, out of control, changed position on the guitar and the name of Yemanjà came out of my mouth, and then became the refrain. The words just arrived, reaching me from a collective unconscious into which I had somehow tapped. And while composing, I was amazed and curious to find out what I would create.

Thus this hymn was born. Later I peeked on the Internet to learn more about this entity and understood everything: the moon, the mirror, the melodies of love, the wave of the sea…

In some African-American traditions, there is the cult of certain spirits or demigods called Orixàs (or Orishàs). Each Orixà has a well-defined personality, and his/her own elements, colors, activities, foods, habits and powers. Often, the Orixàs are syncretized with the Christian Saints.
Yemanjà is the mother of all the Orixàs and her element is water. It carries the feminine energy of creation, of the Great Primordial Mother, the source of life. The sea is her habitat, of which she is the protector.
Yemanjà represents the gentle rocking of the waves and the ebb and flow of the tides. That is why it is also associated with the Moon. But his anger manifests itself in terrible sea storms. At the same time she is the protector of shipwrecked and sailors.

In Brazilian mythology, Yemanjà is depicted as a beautiful mermaid. She carries a mirror, representing the sea that reflects the Light of the Great Divine Father. Sweet melodies of love resound around her. She is syncretized with the Virgin Mary

Prima di ricevere questo pezzo, non sapevo molto su di lei. Quella notte scrissi il brano di getto, le parole uscirono con un automatismo che mi sorprese. Non avevo intenzione di scrivere un inno a Yemanjà! Capii che l’inno era dedicato a lei solo quando le mani, senza controllo, cambiarono posizione sulla chitarra e dalla mia bocca uscì il nome di Yemanjà che diventò poi il ritornello. Le parole arrivavano a me, attinte da un inconscio collettivo al quale in qualche modo mi ero connesso. E mentre componevo, ero allo stesso tempo meravigliato e curioso di scoprire cosa stavo per creare.

Così è nato questo pezzo. Più tardi sbirciai su Internet per conoscere meglio questa entità e capii tutto: la luna, lo specchio, le melodie d’amore, l’onda del mare…

In alcune tradizioni afroamericane viene praticato il culto degli Orixàs (o Orishàs) spiriti o semidei. Ognuno di essi possiede personalità, elementi, colori, attività, alimenti, abitudini e poteri ben determinati. Spesso gli Orixàs sono sincretizzati con i Santi cristiani.

Yemanjà è la madre di tutti gli Orixàs. Il suo elemento è l’acqua. Porta l’energia femminile della creazione, della Grande Madre Primordiale, la fonte della vita. Il mare è il suo habitat e lei ne è la protettrice. Yemanjà rappresenta il dolce cullare delle onde e il movimento delle maree. Per questo è associata anche alla Luna. Ma la sua ira si manifesta con terribili tempeste marine. Allo stesso tempo è la protettrice dei naufraghi e dei marinai.

Nella mitologia brasiliana, Yemanjà è raffigurata come una bellissima sirena. Con lei porta uno specchio, rappresenta il mare che rispecchia la Luce del Grande Padre Divino. Intorno a lei risuonano dolci melodie d’amore. È sincretizzata con la Vergine Maria.
